Rental tent options.
We have identified these into the following options.
Our journey with bell tents started in 2016, marking the foundation of our expertise. With a decade of experience distributing and renting bell tents across New Zealand, we decided to reinvent the design. This new version is tailored specifically for New Zealand’s conditions, combining the finest features we’ve observed in other tents—without any unnecessary extras. We designed the Explorer primarily as a long-term option for our rental fleet. This means these have been made for looks and longevity. The differences between this and our Pinnacle Flagship are a lighter fabric blend, for ease of transport, and the single door.

After the 2024/25 season running 60 units of these, they quickly became a favourite for staff and clients. The modern design elements proved popular, as well as greater head room for all parties. They experienced over 60 nights out and plenty of handling and transport around the country. They show signs of their many successful events.
Aesthetic, Functional, Durable
Blending a charming high-wall and entrance design with tough-as-nails durability, this tent is made to be your trusty camping companion for years to come. With a roomy interior, super easy setup, unbeatable strength, and eye-catching style, it’s ready to make every adventure a breeze.
Perfect for family camping trips or extended glamping set ups, the Explorer tent is just what you need for a large crew, extra commercial accommodations, or a backyard adventure. Easily fitting up to 8 campers, this tent is a versatile option for any outdoor excursion.
Built for the Toughest Conditions
Our second iteration of the Explorer is a true four-season shelter, engineered to withstand both snow and desert conditions. Crafted from technical 300GSM PC canvas, it undergoes custom dyeing and weather sealing. We reinforce tension points and double-stitch seams for exceptional durability. The 25/75 Tentpro®Polycotton blend enhances this strength, combining the natural comfort and breathability of cotton with the durability of polyester thread.
Having used and explored various cotton and polycotton tents over the years, we are confident that our TentPro fabric represents the best choice for New Zealand's high UV and damp climate conditions.
Do it your way.
With features like full no-see black mesh walls, YKK zippers, and more, the Explorer is incredibly versatile. Offering a total floor area of 16 square metres, it's a powerhouse. This spacious design allows for a wide range of uses and applications.
- How about a fly only shade space? - Loosen the guys, roll up the walls, and enjoy the shade.
- Split it down the middle, into 2 rooms? Sure, we have seen this many times - with the dual entries this can be a great set up!
- Family reunion happening? Sure! Toss all the kids in there, the size of this thing can house a horde, marae-style.
- Want to try hot-tenting to enjoy the cool nights, or extend your camping fun. These are hot tent ready with a preinstalled jack to the right of the door.
Aesthetic:
The classic charm of a bell tent is unmistakable, with its timeless design that sparks feelings of nostalgia and cosy rustic vibes. The Nomadic Explorer II puts a fresh twist on this traditional look, mixing in sleek black accents against a soft Spud-brown backdrop. We’re pretty sure you’ll fall for its unique style and standout appeal!
Colour - Taupo Pumice - what does that mean? Inspired by the softly greyed off-white tones found right where we are based in Taupo. Our proud home and adventure base.
Woodburner Ready for ‘Hot Tenting’
Nomadic has been leading the way in hot tenting in New Zealand, recently pushing the Department of Conservation (DOC) for clearer guidelines and fewer restrictions on portable woodburners. Our Tent Pro fabric is naturally flame-resistant, and the Explorer II bell tent comes equipped with a built-in canvas stove jack for wood-burning stoves. Check out our Winnerwell range! We have also designed these units to suit the external air intake pipe from the Winnerwell Plus range, the premium woodburners.

Weather-Resistant Groundsheet
Our groundsheet, made from thermally welded rip-stop PVC, is impervious to water. The ‘bathtub style’ floor rises over 10 cm high, ensuring dryness even in floods. Heavy-duty zips allow floor removal for transport, storage, cleaning, or ventilation.
Robust Hardware
The tent’s heavy-duty steel poles have internal spring-loaded wires for easy assembly. The centre pole has a welded D ring for attaching an inner tent or chandelier. Two extra large storage pockets with three compartments each provide easy access to valuables. The anchors and guy ropes are attached with stainless D anchors and carabiner clips. This enables swift removal of the guy ropes. If they are damp, these can leave mildew lines.
Convenient and Accessible
A zip entry point at the back of the tent accommodates electrical cords, ensuring rain and bug protection. The oversized carry bag, equipped with robust webbing, buckles, and compression straps, makes packing straightforward and efficient. Paracord guy ropes, custom YKK zips, extra-large stainless steel pegs all ensure reliability in the wilderness.
